This spectacular and unique show chronicles the history of Motown Music from its foundation by Berry Gordy Jr in 1959 right up to the 1999 with modern artists portraying an updated twist on the classic Motown Sound. Little did Berry Gordy know his vision and the music that was created at HITSVILLE would change the world. The Story of Motown features music from well known artists as diverse as: Smokey Robinson Marvin Gaye Michael Jackson & The Jackson 5 Stevie Wonder Meatloaf The Temptations Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons Lionel Richie The Commodores The Contours Bobby Darin Four Tops The Isley Brothers Gladys Knight & the Pips Marvelettes The Pointer Sisters Diana Ross & the Supremes Boyz II Men and many more.

This is a two-hour, fully narrated, musical extravaganza of classic songs from the Motown era is performed by THE HARLEQUIN BIG BAND, a 7-10 piece big band consisting of two lead vocalists, a full brass section, bass, drums, guitar, piano/keyboards, percussion and fantastic backing vocals. This big band re-creates a sound that is respectful and authentic to that of this magnificent era while at the same time injecting it with a cutting edge live energy that creates the perfect atmosphere. A wonderful stage set, top of the range sound system, spectacular lighting affects, original costume designs and audience participation is all tied together by an ongoing narrative of the artists and the history of Motown itself.
